Welcome Max Watson, U11-U14 Director of Player Development

Stafford, VA (April 19, 2022)

Stafford Soccer is pleased to announce the latest addition to our technical staff. We are excited to welcome Max Watson as our U11-U14 Director of Player Development.

Technical Director of Coaching, Fernando Ramos said, “I’m excited to have Max Watson join the technical staff as our U11 – U14 Director of Player Development.  For the past four years, Max and I have worked well together coordinating the college ID events for Stafford Soccer.  Max brings tremendous soccer expertise at the club and collegiate level.  He will do a great job mentoring our U11 – U14 coaches and players while continuing to assist the older age groups with college guidance.”

As a student, Watson earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in business from Franklin & Marshall in 2015 before obtaining a Master of Business Administration degree from Mary Washington in May of 2018.

As a player, Watson was a four-year standout midfielder at Franklin & Marshall College from 2011-2014, leading the Diplomats to three Centennial Conference playoff appearances, two NCAA Tournament bids, and a 55-17-8 record during his career.  He appeared in 71 contests and recorded nine points on two goals and five assists while playing a vital role as a holding midfielder.

As a coach, Watson holds both a United Soccer Coaches Advanced National Diploma and a United States Soccer Federation National "C" Coaching License.  Watson is coming from VMI where he was the youngest Division 1 Head Coach in the Country for the last three years.  Prior to VMI, Watson was the Head Boys’ Soccer Coach for Mountain View High School in 2019.  During his tenure, Mountain View posted a 17-4-1 record including a Commonwealth District Championship and trip to the state tournament.  He was awarded both the Commonwealth District Coach of the Year and the VHSL Region 5D Coach of the Year by his peers.  While at Mountain View, Max worked as a Staff Coach with Stafford Soccer and assisted with the College Guidance Program. Prior to Mountain View, Watson was an assistant coach at Mary Washington University from 2015-2018 and helped guide the Eagles to a 41-15-3 overall record during his time at UMW. Looking forward to welcoming back Max Watson, and the impact he will bring to our Technical Staff!
