Dear members – before another game weekend is upon us the club would like to make clear the procedures for games weekends where inclement weather and/or field closures affect play.

Game Day

6:50 am – the county informs us which fields are closed giving the club 10 minutes to get the appropriate message out to our membership on all platforms (weather hotline 540-657-2010, the staffordsoccer.com website, Facebook, Twitter, all coaches email) 7:00 am – the county sends out their text alert on field closures

If fields are closed at 7am, then for Stafford Soccer, all games for that day are cancelled and will be re-scheduled. Although the County may decide to open a field or two from their original closed list, for the purposes of games for Stafford Soccer, the fields remain closed and games will be re-scheduled. As a coach or a member, you do not need to anticipate or keep your eye on your email or text for any other message on a game day. Even though the county may send out subsequent alerts that certain fields have been re-evaluated and/or opened, the games for that day will remain cancelled.

Please note, the county sends out separate notices for “RECTANGULAR” fields and “DIAMOND” fields. For one game day, you may receive up to four text alerts, two of which are related to diamond fields only.

In closing, although there was some confusion for fields that were‘re-opened’ last game weekend, the cancelled games have already been rescheduled. Please take a look at your team page in order to see your remaining game schedule.
