Stafford Soccer Programs
Differences Between Recreation, Academy, and Travel

Stafford Soccer offers three levels of play. Read below to find out the differences between the programs to help your decision-making process for the Fall 2024/Spring 2025. More info can be found on our website at staffordsoccer.com along with other programs we offer including U3/U4 Stars (Under 4),  U5 Stars (Under 5) and our Adult League.

Recreation

• Divisions available for U6-U19
• Coed and Girls only teams
• Online registration opens June of 2024    
• No tryouts
• Teams are built based on geographic location to the best of our ability (special requests are considered)              
• U6-U8 Teams practice 1 X per week
• U10-High School teams practice 2 X per week
• Games are played against other Stafford Soccer teams in a particular age group
• Teams remain together from Fall to Spring (seasonal year) but you must register on time and pay each season
• Teams are coached by volunteer parents/community members
• Onetime fee per season dependent on age group
• Uniform fee not included (approx. $50) if you don’t already have one. The uniform kit stays the same so can be used season after season within the same program.

Revolution Academy

• Divisions available for U10-U14 
• Coed and Girls only teams
• Current and aspiring Academy players must attend tryouts to be considered for the program. Tryout Registration opens May 3, 2023. Tryouts held May 20, 21 and 22, 2024 CLICK HERE for more information when it becomes available.
• Teams are built based on tryout evaluations for more equally balanced teams (special requests are not considered)
• Pre-season Jamboree- round robin type event to kick off each season
• Games are played against other Stafford Soccer teams in a particular age group
• Teams remain together from Fall to Spring (seasonal year) but you must register on time and pay each season
• Teams are coached by volunteer parents/community members but must hold USSF Grassroots/ “E” coaching license (or equivalent) and be approved by the program director.
• Onetime fee per season dependent on age group
• Academy uniform fee not included (approx. $50) if you don’t already have one. Uniform kits stay the same so can be used season after season within the same program.
• Competition and commitment to training is increased from the Recreational level.

Travel

• Divisions available for U9-U19
• All boys teams and all girls teams
• Tryout Registration open- current and aspiring Travel players must attend tryouts to be considered for 2024-2025 Fall/Spring season
• Teams are formed based on birth year
• Teams practice 2 days per week for 1.5 hours each session
• Games are played against other area clubs in a particular league (Our 2024-25 Travel teams will compete in the ECNL-Regional League and NCSL)
• Half of the games are home games played here in Stafford (usually Embrey Mill)
• TOURNAMENTS:
• Teams remain together from Fall to Spring (seasonal year)
• When you accept a spot on a travel team, you are accepting for a full year
• Payment plans available
• Teams are coached by paid professional coaches
• Required uniform kit is approx. $275.  The same uniform kit is worn on a 2-year cycle. The upcoming 2024-25 year is the second year of that 2-year cycle.
• Highest level of competition through the club
• The player and their family are making a commitment to a team that will train and progress for a full year
