SASA Classic/Travel Division Tryouts
Spring 2010 Season
The Stafford Area Soccer Association (SASA) will be holding its annual Spring 2010 Season Tryouts for the Travel and
Classic Divisions from November 16 – 19, 2009 at Smith Lake Park. Click here for directions.
Prior to Tryouts
Register on-line at the SASA website (www.staffordsoccer.com) and click on the tryout picture on the main page or click here to register.
In the event of inclement weather, please call the SASA Weather Hotline 540.657.2010 or visit the SASA website www.staffordsoccer.com. If cancelled, due to rain, please visit the SASA website www.staffordsoccer.com the following day for re-scheduling details.
At Tryouts
Arrive on-time and have a parent remain on the premises during tryouts.
Upon arrival, check-in at the registration table so a tryout number can be issued.
Players bring or wear:
- white shirt
- shin guards
- indoor / outdoor cleats or cross-trainer shoes
- winter gear (sweat shirt / pants), as needed
- appropriately sized soccer ball
- adequate water or sports drink
The SASA coaches will meet with players to discuss what they will be evaluating (e.g. individual skills, teamwork, positioning, assertiveness, attitude, etc…), facilitate a quick warm-up session, and then organize small sided games so players have an opportunity to display their skills and playing ability.
Goal Keepers (GK) will be evaluated on the merit of their field and GK skills and playing ability.
At the conclusion of tryouts, players are to return their tryout number to a SASA coach.
After Tryouts
For Classic, results will be posted to the SASA website (www.staffordsoccer.com) then select the Classic tab at the top.
For Travel, coaches will contact players directly by November 30 to offer a team roster position, or invite players to attend follow-up sessions with prospective teams for further consideration.
After receiving confirmation of selection for Classic and/or Travel, then register your player for the SASA Spring 2010 Season at www.staffordsoccer.com by clicking on the spring season registration link

Note 1: The cost per player in the Travel Division depends on several factors such as the age group, qualifications of the coach, number of planned tournaments, and league type. When a player is offered a roster position on a Travel Division Team, the coach will let the parents know the expected cost based on the factors above.
