The Academy will run for six (6) sessions U9-U-12 and seven (7) sessions for U13-U19 (schedule below) and will include a one hour session per week focused on a specific GK topic. The Academy is open to all Travel and Revolution Academy goalkeepers.
** no more than two goalies per team per session. If more than two players are interested send them on a rotating basis. Please bring ball, water and wear GK equipment (gloves, shirt. short)
A New component to GK Academy is Travel Home match observation/assessment by the GK Academy technical staff. We are very excited to add this as it will allow goalies to be observed and accessed under match conditions. When and where possible, the GK Academy technical staff will warm-up the GK specifically and give them technical guidance before, during and after the match. Feedback on performance/technical/psychological aspects will also be provided by GK Academy Technical staff.
Brian Bugge: SASA Staff coach and GK Trainer USSF "C"
Andrew Dykstra: Professional GK and GK Trainer
The GK Academy Staff has been upgraded this year with the addition of Andrew Dykstra, a current Professional soccer player for USL Pro League’s Charleston Battery. Andrew also played two seasons in the MLS with the Chicago Fire prior to joining the Battery. He was the starter for the Fire for the 2010 season and was a stand-out for Virginia Commonwealth University. Andrew played for new DOC Kyle Lessig in the USL PDL (Richmond Kickers Future) and was a captain/MVP for the team. Kyle Lessig explains "Andrew is a top-level goalkeeper with professional playing experience in MLS and will be a tremendous asset to the GK Academy as well as the club as a whole" as we look to add new quality programs to the SASA line-up. Andrew curremtly plays in the MLS with DC United!
