Weather Cancellations Policy

Each year, we have rain outs, whether on practice days or game days, the procedure is generally the same.

Please do not call the SASA office to obtain information relating to weather.  If there is a light drizzle or the "possiblity’ of rain it does not necessarily constitute closure.  Additionally, Stafford County does  not usually make a determination regarding closures until  1:00 or 2:00pm on weekdays.

Because we are at the mercy of Mother Nature,  making a closure determination well in advance is not always possible.  Please understand we do our very best to ensure timely closures as well as sound decision making to cause the least upset to everyone.   Thank you for your understanding and patience in this matter.

Inclement weather field closures. Below are some basic guidelines regarding closures:
  • The County is in control of the field. They will make the call and inform SASA.
  • The County usually make a call on fields around 2 p.m.
  • Any information we get before 3 p.m. we will post on our website (www.staffordsoccer.com)  and on our weather hotline 540-657-2010.
  • If bad weather comes in late (after 3 p.m.) we may not be able to post on the website or hotline due to staff being on their way to practice or games.
  • It is a coaches call if weather is very bad before/during practice time to cancel practice.
  • It is at the discretion of the referee (if assigned) or the coaches to call a game due to inclement weather at game time.
  • In the case of thunder or lightning, players and parents should leave the field immediately for a grounded area. No players should go back on the field until 30 minutes after the last thunder or lightning. Please click HERE for our thunder and lightning policy

  •

If your game needs to be rescheduled, Coaches must contact their Age group Coordinator to facilitate that request.  Updates will appear on YOUR FILE reflecting updated schedule information once the update has been made.  Parents always check YOUR FILE FOR THE MOST UP TO DATE SCHEDULE INFORMATION. Please note: If you have bookmarked the SASA homepage, please clear your cookies or outdated SASA pages and/or information may appear.
