Classic Division Cancellation Information
Practices and Games

The SASA WEATHER HOTLINE number is 540-657-2010.  The recorded message is updated promptly and is typically the primary source for cancellations.  The Classic Director, upon finding out that the fields are closed, will also email the Classic coaches with the news.

The Classic Division generally follows the same field closure procedures as the SASA Recreation Division, but there are exceptions.

Classic teams play some of their games in FREDERICKSBURG with FASA’s ASDL teams.  FOR the teams that are playing at either HOTSPURS PARK or MARY LEE CARTER PARK, the FASA weather hotline number is 540-548-4303.  EVEN IF SASA CANCELS, Classic teams might still be playing at the fields of our Fredericksburg neighbors.

Why do the schedules change?

Coaches, parents & players:  The schedule process is not an easy one.  First, we rush to form a schedule so that the referee association has adequate time to load it and start assigning referees.  As soon as coaches and parents see the schedule, issues arise.  A sample of issues includes: First Communion day, coaches with multiple teams, travel team schedules developed later that cause additional conflicts).  For those that do not know Classic’s primary policy, we value our customers!! (parents, players & coaches included!!).  We understand that schedule changes cause disruptions, but in the end, the kids get to play the games and everyone should be content.  Thus, we try to accommodate most all requests coming through the coaches.  Obviously, at some point, we say "play the games" as the disruption outweighs the need.

Thank you and enjoy the season!!    Toby
