Classic Jamboree Wrap Up
Sweltering Temperatures - Solid Early-Season Play

The Classic fall 2007 Jamboree was played on one of the hottest days of the year, yet the early season play was spirited.  All age groups and teams participated.  A special thanks to the parents, coaches and players for weathering the heat,  and to our partner, the Rappahannock Soccer Referees Association for conducting its referee training during the event.  On to the season!!

Conklin Scramble - Lousy Weather - Great Play!
225+ Classic & Travel Players Enjoy the Small-Sided Games

The Conklin Scramble took place at Willowmere Park on Saturday, April 14.  Overcast skies, cool temperatures and occasional rain and drizzle failed to diminish the intensity of play.  Players from SASA's and FASA's Classic Leagues and SASA's Travel Division participated.  A SASA Recreation player was spotted here or there as well.  All four age groups, U8, U10, U12 and U14, occupied the fields at different times.

In addition to the kids having a good time under less-than-perfect conditions, a group of coaches stepped into the U14 play to teach the kids a lesson!

While there are no additional scrambles on the schedule for the spring season, these events occasionally pop up on a few day's notice when the weather turns sour over consecutive weeks.  Be on the lookout!

2008 Fall Season Classic Division Tryouts
Held in June, 2008.

The Classic Division conducts tryouts at the end of each season in order to select players for the next season.  The timing of the tryouts allows the league to reorganize and ensures that players register correctly for play as the next season approaches.  To play in the Classic Division in the FALL of 2008, players must tryout in June.  Details for the June tryout are below:

June, 2008 Classic Tryout Schedule (for fall, 2008 play):

U08 Classic Tryouts - Monday, June 9 - 6:00 PM - Pratt Park (tentative field)

U10 Classic Tryouts - Tuesday, June 10 - 6:00 PM - Pratt Park (tentative field)

U12 Classic Tryouts - Wednesday, June 11 - 6:00 PM - Pratt Park (tentative field)

U14 Classic Tryouts - Thursday, June 12 - 6:00 PM - Pratt Park (tentative field)

All newcomers to the Division must tryout in an attempt to play during the fall, 2008 season.  At U08, all tryout attendees are usually accepted.  The Division will occasionally recommend that a U08 (or younger) player seek another season of Recreation Division play, but we generally leave that decision with the parent(s).  Entry into the U10 & U12 Divisions is highly competitive.  Entry into the U14 Division is competitive.

New coaches are welcome.  See the main Classic page for information on coaching needs.

All interested parents and coaches should read the Classic policies before attending tryouts and/or approaching the Classic Director
