About Classic The Classic Division has two main goals:
- Player Development
- Coach Development
The Division accomplishes these goals by :
- providing professional trainers for the players;
- requiring coaches to obtain a USSF E certificate within a year of entry;
- providing regular coaching education events;
- offering coaches incentives for continuing their education; and
- attempting to create balanced teams via tryouts and a draft.
The Division appreciates that the coaches are what drives the Division’s success while your players are our most precious resource. Your child’s fun, interest and development is directly related to your coach and we try to recruit and develop the best.
We are different from SASA’s Recreation Division in that we generally do not have neighborhood teams. Our teams are comprised of players from all parts of the county. Parents can expect to travel to practices. We are different from SASA’s Travel Division in that we are not part of any league and thus do not travel out of the county for games. At various times, special arrangements have been made with Fredericksburg (FASA), Fauquier County and Prince William County (PWSI) to have friendlies (i.e., games), but in general, we seek to keep everything contained within the county.
If fun, exciting, developmental soccer is something you are interested in, or your child would like to make the jump from recreation soccer to travel soccer, then the Classic Division should be a good fit. Please note our tryout information and other pertinent Division information in our policies. In accordance with the Division’s philosophy on development, our coaches, trainers, parents and players expect a more serious commitment to training from all our players and parents. Are you ready to take your [child’s] game to new heights?
